rectangular marquee tool HELP

Hello,

Hoping you’ll be able to help as I’m not sure if this is a bug or I’ve altered some preferences and not realised.

Recently, My rectangular marquee tool has been acting differently to how I normally use it.

I’ll make my rectangle, do my edits then when I go to select another area the mouse is already automatically a Minus area Rectangle tool, which I thought you had to hold Ctrl to get this to happen?

What it means is when I want to create another rectangle area I have to minus the one previously used.
