I need to remove the green from the image, but keep green for a couple of countries. I know how to use Select -> Color Range to remove the green color. I do not know how to get back the green for select countries while still keep the other country colors deleted. Let me know if this makes sense or not, or if there is a better way to get rid of color from the image.

Duplicate the image layer with Ctrl / Cmd + J

Remove color from top layer and keep color intact on bottom layer.

Use a Layer Mask to remove unwanted portions of top layer.

Thank you, Nancy. This allows me to get rid of the green. I should have been clearer. I need to keep the country outlines the same. Meaning, if I do it this way, I will need to zoom in and use fine precision to get all the green without losing the country outline. Is there a way to do this without the need for such precision?

Can you post a screenshot of your image?

I assume the problem is the country border is the same shade of green?

This is a screen shot of the image at 130% zoom in Photoshop. I can get rid of the green in larger countries like Russia, but I need to zoom in to get to a granular level to remove green from smaller countries.

This is South America at 560% zoom. Using a 1 pixel brush, I can remove the green pixel by pixel. While effective, I am not sure this is the best way to do it.

I would like to get the image to resemble this...

These countries were a different color, so it was easier to remove these colors altogether as I did not need them. Notice how the borders are smooth, with no trace of the color at all. This is what I would like for the other countries.
