Hello Everyone

I am unable to use Remove Tool in Photoshop 24.6.0

It says 'Can't use the tool because your system is running Rosetta.

How can I run Photoshop without Rosetta?

I am using M1 Macbook Pro

Go to the application and get Info. Uncheck Rosetta and relaunch Photoshop.

I have a iMac late 2021 with M1 Chip, OS 13.4.1 (c).  I have been using Rosetta for some extensions that have not been converted to the new plug-in format.  I have to switch back and forth between PS CC 24.6 with rosetta and w/o rosetta, which is very combursome and annoying.  Is there a way to use the New Remove Tool while using Rosetta.

Thank you in advance for your help

Hi @regmikewall unfortunately the answer is no. You cannot use the Remove tool in Rosetta. I'd start bugging the plugin developers to get with it - M1s are old news by now and Apple is talking M3 already.

Unfortunately, the extension can't be updated for the new plugin format.  have had extensive discussions with him.

Question, other new features like the new Gradiant tool works with Rosetta, only the remove tool doesn't, do you know why this is, this was the genessis of my question

The Remove tool was written for newer processors like the M1 chip.

Understand fully, but wasn't the new gradient tool that allows the modification of gradients with lines, circles, etc designed for the M1 chip?

I am on a Mac, I go to "Get Info" by right clicking the PSCC icon, I then click on "open in Rosetta" when i want to us the extensions that I can't use when running PSCC so I can use remove tool, then I click back, cumbersome, but it is the only way I can use certain extensions not supported in the native M1 chip OS Ventura.

Hope this helps

I am getting the error when I try to use the Remove Tool. I went to the PS app and clicked on Get Info. I do not see any option on that panel for unchecking Rosetta.

needlepointerncREF,

What version of Photoshop and macOS are you using?

Is your Mac Apple Silicon or Intel?

Your getting the 'Can't use the tool because your system is running Rosetta message when trying to use the Remove Tool?

That's get Info for the Adobe Photoshop 2024 application folder.

You want the Adobe Photoshop 2024.app that is inside that folder.

Found it and turned off Rosetta. The remove tool now works, but when I turn off Rosetta, many of my Filter>Gallery menu options and my Topaz Studio 2 plugin menu option disappears. So, I will live without the Remove Tool for now. Thanks

On macOS you can have more than one photoshop version open, so you could potentially run photoshop 2022 under Rosetta for your extensions and 2023 for the Removal Tool. In the preferences under General check Auto-Update Open file-Based Documents, so saving in one version updates the others document.
