Remove watermark after the fact

I downloaded an adobe stock sample with the watermark, worked on it, and liked the way it turned out.  Then, I bought/licensed/downloaded the photo.  I thought the program would "know" that this purchase happened and remove the watermark from the sample.  Is there a way to the watermark off the now-purchased sample or do I have to start all the work over on the new downloaded/licensed photo?

If your work was in new layers you may be able to preserve them. Otherwise, You have to do it again. Consider too that what you paid for is probably higher quality as well as not watermarked.

Thanks.  It is in several layers.  I didn't know there was quality difference, though.  I think I'll redo it.  Thanks for answering.
