Save for web gives me an error that says: the operation could not be completed, the file or directory could not be found. I'm using CC2017. And that's it. I haven't found any solution on the web, so any help will be appreciated.

Same issue here. When I try to save for web
[ File> Export> Save for Web (Legacy)...]

I get the same unless error message "The operation could not be completed"

In Regedit:

Added 32 DWORD "OverridePhysicalMemoryMB" with the value "4000" decimal (=4 GB RAM = is my installed RAM).

hey everyone! had this same problem working with photoshop cc 2018 on windows 10, and apparently the problem was that windows defender was blocking photoshop from making changes in the documents folder. i had to go to windows defender and place photoshop as an allowed app for making system changes, and now it works...

This issue is driving me mad, 'Save for Web' does not work in Photoshop CS6, Illustrator or Elements. I have even installed a trial version of CC and it still doesn't work. I have tried trashing all the related prefs in Photoshop Settings and in Plugins. I have replaced all the Adobe prefs, Application Support and the individual applications from a backup. I repaired permissions. I have a clone of my hard drive that I made before I replaced it a few months ago and everything works fine on there. None of the fixes I've found online work.

That may brake your CS6 perpetual version installed on your system. When I installed creative cloud CC. Photoshop CS6 still worked and so did Photoshop CC. Of the course of time I installed newer versions like CC 2014. Though I do not remember asking the Creative Cloud desktop application to update CS6 I believe it tried to for one of the ACR updated. Creative Cloud CS6 is extended CS6 version 13.1.2 where My Perpetual serial was for Standard CS6 version 13.0.1.3 windows. Anyway CS6 started reporting is was version 13.0 and it was broken. Also CS6 menu Help Updates now always failed to work right. I solved my problem by installing CS6 on top of the current broke CS6 that inatall ran and CS6 version 13.0 then worked and update was able to updated it to Exyended CS6 version 13.1.2 the creative cloud version of CS6. I now have CS6, CC 2014 and CC 2018 19.1.6 installed and save for Web works in all three versions.

Pleas use CS6 menu Help>System Info and post the information here.

Thank you JJMack. I can't afford the Creative Cloud subscription, I am a pensioner. I just used the CC trial to see if Save for Web worked - which it doesn't. I'm quite happy to use CS6 as it does everything I need. I will be updating the OS to Mojave soon but I have a partition with and older OS just for Adobe stuff and anything else that is 32-bit.

I'm a windows user know little about Mac never user OSX just used os7 and os9. Your video driver seems recent and I see that save for web plug-in version 13.0 installed. You also load quite a few third party plug-ins and at least one has 32bit code that OSx does not support.

Please try this:

Start Photoshop and immediately press and hold Shift+CMD+Option have Photoshop delete your Preferences files.

When Photoshop initializes reset all Photoshop tool to make sure Preferences and setting are good.

Close Photoshop down.

Then Photoshop start Photoshop while you are hold the shift key down. Skip loading optional 3rd party.

See if save for web works without your 3rd party plug-ins installed with your Preferences and settings reset.

Sorry, doesn't help. Nothing to do with plug-ins. The fact that SFW also doesn't work in Illustrator and Photoshop Element shows that it has nothing to do with Photoshop.

Perhaps some mac user can help you. Nothing on Google jumps out at me. Your problem does not seem to be wide spread. May have to do with your machine configuration and software versions. Common to all three applications. They are all Adobe application and may share or have code in common.

I have established the Save for Web works when I log in as another user and have repaired all the permissions on my usual account from the Terminal, so it has nothing to do with permissions.

If it works from a new user ID try making you old user ID look like a new user ID to Photoshop. If you are a Windows user you can do that this way. Close down Photoshop. Now rename your current userid current Photoshop user id current application data folder. To do that use Windows File explorer set its View settings to be able to view hidden Folders and files.

Find the folder

"C:\Users\(your User ID)AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2018"

rename it to

"C:\Users\(your User ID)AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 Old"

Start Photoshop CC 2018 it will create user data for you user id in a new

"C:\Users\(your User ID)AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2018"

Hi erikklan, when this happen to me I just go Appdata on my secondary HD with my account documents and delete the folder adobe from Local and Roaming. This may cause information loss of your proyect but is better than unistall.

Save for web error, the operation could not be completed, the file or directory could not be found.
