Do you have an NVIDIA card? Try disabling the in-game overlay on GeForce experience. This seems to be the culprit for some customers - https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/entire-system-is-freezing-when-i-use-custom-brushes/td-p/12545883#M602402

If that isn't the solution, ut may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

In a modern operating system, an application cannot cause a BSOD, it is isolated to prevent that from happening so the application freezes but the OS continues. However a driver called by that application operates at a much lower level and can indeed cause a BSOD. So Ged is right, look at your drivers and, in particular, the GPU driver. Photoshop will use that driver for functions that other applications may not touch.

On a BSOD there is usually a message that tells you what failed. What exactly does that messsage say? I recently experienced random BSODs that were due to a failing memory stick, which I confirmed by running MemTest86. Replacing that RAM under warranty cured all the issues.

A BSoD is uselessly caused by either buggy drivers and or failing hardware, have you tried checking for hardware driver updates.

Can you post your Photoshop system info from the help menu, in Photoshop go to Help > System Info, hit the copy button and paste the entire thing into this thread
