Question

Shot cuts don't work correctly

Using iMac 24 inch M, Monterey:

Short cuts (Command +J, Command+0, Command + W) don' work correctly. Sometimes it works, but most of the time not. I cannot trace when it happens and when not. It is confusing.

When I open a file in PS, normally I could type the short cuts. Now it is blocked. Only when I make the layer window active it works.

New info: Same problem after activating a Nik Collection app in Photoshop and go to Photoshop via Indesign:

Only Bridge is open:

Bridge, double click on picture -> picture opens in Photoshop (Photoshop starts) -> Command + J works.

Click Color Efex Pro 4 + OK -> new layer in Photoshop is visable, Command + J (duplicate layer) -> doesn't work.

Same problem with 'go to original' from Indesign and Photoshop is open:

Indesign, Right click on picture, Edit original (Origineel bewerken) -> Picture opens in PS (which is still open) -> Command + J does not work.

It seems Photoshop is not active anymore:

- after using a Nik-collection app (which makes a new layer in PS)

- after switching to Bridge with Command + Tab, and come back in Photoshop again (PS is still open) by opening a picture via Bridge

- after switching to Indesign (via Command + Tab) and go to the picture via "edit original" (PS is still open).

The problem occurs when the Nik Selective Tool is opened in Photoshop: Photoshop - File - Automate - Nik Selection Tool 2.

When I deselect the floating palette of Nik Collection (In palette: Nik Preferences: 'Open Nik Selective Tool automatically on launch') and start the Nik Collection via Photoshop - Menu - Filter - Nik Collection, it works fine.

Working with the floating palette Nik Collection is not possible now.

Hello, can you check where the NIK plugins are installed? are they listed in third party in Help/System info... ?

Where do you start Photoshop? Because NIK opens also when I hold the shift key.

About NIK:

Before I bought the NIK Collection I first tried a few days the trial version. The short cuts in Photoshop worked fine. After the NIK Collection a new version of Photoshop (23.1) is installed on my iMac (this week). Now I have this problem.

Both

Does the problem only happen when you launch in Rosetta? or also when you launch natively?

You can hold down the shift key when you launch Photoshop to disable NIK.

I start PS with Rosetta. The Preferences > Plug-ins "Load Extension Panels" is unchecked but I still have the problem:

Open Bridge, double click on a picture (PS opens) -> short cuts work.

Command + W (close picture but not PS), Command + tab (switch to Bridge), double click on a picture (picture opens in PS) -> short cuts don't work.

It seems that PS is not active (has no focus).

Perhaps Nik Collection 4 is causing this problem.

Hi Jeffrey,

Three days ago I bought Nik Collection 4 Plug-in. I send you the preferences in PS. I cannot find "Load Extension Panels". What can I change?

Do you have any 3rd party panels like Coolorus?

If you go to Preferences > Plug-Ins... and uncheck "Load Extension Panels" and restart, does it work correctly?
