Some panels in PS always collapsed on startup

Since some month, the some panels on the right hand side of my workspace are always collapsed after startup. Even if I expand them and save the workspace as a new workspace: most of the panels are collapsed after startup.

PS starts always as maximized window on my Windows 11 system.

Is this a known bug and when will it be solved?

Hey, @konrad79. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll move this post to Photoshop Beta. I'll need more info to help you figure this out. Please share the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > upload and attach here.

I've tried to recreate this on my end with Photoshop v25.11, it worked as expected. I've attached my screenshot for you.

Ensure there are no stale preferences in your Photoshop. Go to the location of the preference folder below and rename it to backup.

  • Windows 10/11: Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop [version]/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings
  • You can press Press the Windows key > Enter 'Run' > Enter %APPDATA%\Adobe
  • Rename the Adobe Photoshop folder by adding a .old at the end. (Adobe Photoshop 2024 > Rename > Adobe Photoshop 2024. old), you can later restore these preferences if needed.(https://adobe.ly/4860qM9)
  • Restart the computer.

These changes will give a fresh start to Photoshop as a fresh install. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks!

Does changing these settings help?

@Lumigraphics Looks like a good option ... But:
"Auto Collapse Iconis Panels" was false

I checked it

Restart after expanding all panels

Uncheck it after expanding all panels

But result still the same: Panels are collapsed 😞

@Sameer K

That helped in the first place.

But:

After removing (resetting) the settings to the defaults - restart PS - importing only my workspace (to get the panels quick in the problematic manner) - it worked and the panels remain open after a restart.

But since I don't want a complete reset of all my preferences, I  restored the old settings folder from the backup as explained in the official adobe link you mentioned.

But now (no surprise, since all the old settings files are back in place) the faulty behaviours came back.

The question is: Where is the error in the 130 settings files in the settings folder?
