Something for the weekend - Part 139 - Hang in there!

Community Expert ,
Jun 25, 2021 Jun 25, 2021

Hi,

It is amazing what the craft community can make with a bent wire coathanger. So I wondered what our Photoshop community could do with it.

The “rules”:

* Anything goes, as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright etc

* Anyone, and everyone, is welcome to have a go, whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert.

* There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off, or bring a bit of humour and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!

To download the image below at its full pixel size, and with an embedded ICC colour profile (sRGB), hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right. Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser). I've done the cut out work for you and put it on a transparent background 🙂 .

I almost missed it. I was looking above the fire but then realised you had been more clever than that. 🙂

That's very clever! Great use of the hanger.

It appears that the Washington Post's editorial cartoonist would like to join this week's coat hanger photo challenge !

Haha!

It serves a dual purpose, Dave — when he leaves his keys inside, he can use it to unlock the car door.

No hanger required for unlocking Jane - I only modelled half the car. It was the half with the radio in though  🙂

I'd been thinking along the same lines Dave, but was going to add a UFO in the sky with a gag (that I had not yet thought of) about the aliens communicating with the car driver.  I could see it in my head, which I find is more than half the battle with SFTW threads.  Jane, I follow a couple YouTube channels (The Lock Picking Lawyer and Bosnian Bill) who make it look meticulously easy defeating most locks that come there way.  That includes modern vehicle locks, but with keyless entry systems, getting in does not let you start the engine. But getting into a locked vehicle 'nondestructively'  (borrowing a Photoshop term) just involves purchasing a freely available kit like the one in this video, that comes with a huge manual with instructions for most any vehicle).

I could pick a car lock with a coat hanger when I was a teenager, Trevor. I only did it once for real when a friend locked his keys in his car. We were part of a group of volunteers at a juvenile detention center, and all the boys were in the yard behind a barbed wire fence, clamoring to be released to "assist". Some of them were in for stealing cars. They cheered when I did it like a pro!

Haha, Dave! Clever thinking — all they could steal was the antenna!

Dave, I believe SFTW 54 was where I did my worst/subtlest; but your reinterpretation is right up there with it.

Nice one Dave. I was looking for past SFTW photos to use. I may have tried this one if you hadn't beaten me to it. 🙂

I should have made the eye yellow, lol. Right now, I am working on restoring illustrations from a public domain zoological book published in 1824. This beautiful bat seemed to exactly fit on your hanger!

Nicely done Jain, although uncomfortably topical.

I was really curious how it would end when I started, Dave.

Your exquisite Thorp Perrow picture from 63 was crucial.
