Hi,
Thanks to all who took part in our previous 'Genie Filter' challenge, some very inventive filters were shown there 🙂 .
This weekend, with Christmas very close, I thought we should have a seasonal challenge. So we have a Christmas cracker and your challenge is to pull open the cracker and reveal what is inside.
The “rules”:
To download the image, hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right.
Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser).
When posting back your image — please use the blue reply button in this first post and use the 'Insert Photos' icon at the top of the reply box. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry, then please use the grey reply button next to their image post.
Have fun, and a very happy Christmas!
Dave

Nice job Euan! I see you may be getting a bit of snow in your part of the world so quite appropriate. Move him away from the fire though or he might not last until Monday! 🙂

Will anyone — anyone at all — have the faintest idea who this is?

Why yes, that's the world famous Harry Corbett, who was deaf in his right ear which is why he had to keep leaning in to hear what that absurd orange thing kept whispering in an attempt to annoy him.

I like the way Sooty is trying to get out of the tube. I also like the inclusion of the card, we'll have to have an online picture challenge next year 🙂

No, Trevor, this is another British show that didn't make to the USA! 🙂 I did find a video though:

I'm intrigued by the wood table, Dave. The wood grain isn't straight and the darker lines cross over. What kind of wood is that and how did you make it? The drink is from SFTWCL, btw.

It was a Substance asset - I was in a hurry and grabbed it from my Substance Painter shelf 🙂 .

The table top was definitely something that needed dealing with for thee people who opened the cracker. Rather than tring to extend it, I replaced the entire thing with a wood texture and used the Burn tool to add the darker tones.
Render > Fibers did a decent job, and was actually faster than hunting down the texture.

I thought about extending the table, but then I decided, "This Christmas Cracker is made of paper and it can very well hang off the edge!"

Thanks, Dave and Jane! My original idea was to animate the doves (made by Generative Fill) coming out of the crackers, but I went overtime getting to this stage, lol. I thought of replacing the wood since the grain was warbly and I should have done it. Maybe the wiggling of the doves escaping is causing it?
