Something for the Weekend - Part 238 - Blast off!

Thanks to all who took part in our last 'Pot Luck' challenge.

This week I thought we might start with an industrial scene. This was the last blast furnace in Redcar, but unfortunately it was closed down in 2015 and has now been demolished. Sadly, it marked then end of the use of blast furnaces, to make steel by the river Tees, which had gone for 140 years.

What can you make with this industrial scene?

The “rules”:

  • Use the starter image as at least part of your own image entry.
  • Anything goes, as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright, etc.
  • Anyone, and everyone, is welcome to have a go, whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert. This is not just for our forum “regulars”.
  • There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off your skills, or bring a bit of humor and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!
  • The starter image is made available for you to use in this forum challenge only.

To download the starter image, hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right. Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser).

When posting back your image — please use the blue reply button in this first post and use the 'Insert Photos' icon at the top of the reply box. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry, then please use the grey reply button next to their image post.

Have fun!

Dave

Is it just me or does the death star have a sinister one-eyed smirk?

Actually, sunken blast furnaces are relatively scarce in the archaeological record. That's probably why the fish is so startled.

Something quick.... I got a new vehicle, and I have gone full circle from a Ford Mustang - Nissan Pathfinder - Subaru Forestor - Honda Odyssey — and I would say, I was dreading the day where I would drive a family van... instead, I am pleasantly surprised that it does drive like a nimble luxury car (yeah, I got the Touring version of the Ody). Granted, I still have problems parking this van!

I like the black and white image. It suits that record of an event style. Thanks for adding how you made it, I use the Substance apps a lot, in fact the next SFTW starter image that I'm putting together is made in 3D apps including Substance Designer and Painter, and World Creator and Xfrog and Blender...  🙂
