Something for the Weekend - Part 241 - Time and Tide....

Hi,

Thanks to all who took part in our last, 'Prickly Issue', challenge. We had a great range of entries with both still images and animations.

'Time and tide wait for no man', says the old proverb. So for this week, I bring you a picture of Staithes, a lovely village on the North Yorkshire coast of England. Can you show us what it might look like when the tide retreats?

The “rules”:

  • Use the starter image as at least part of your own image entry.
  • Anything goes, as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright, etc.
  • Anyone, and everyone, is welcome to have a go, whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert. This is not just for our forum “regulars”.
  • There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off your skills, or bring a bit of humor and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!
  • The starter image is made available for you to use in this forum challenge only.

To download the starter image, hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right. Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser).

When posting back your image — please use the blue reply button in this first post and use the 'Insert Photos' icon at the top of the reply box. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry, then please use the grey reply button next to their image post.

Have fun!

Dave

According to the leading experts, the tide will not rise again for several centuries.

That's a great job turning it into a desert like scene, JR. Well done! 🙂

I thought I'd add that this was done with Flaming Pear's Flood 2.

Set the horizon for the town without the boat. then position the boat (with no background) and use Flood 2 again with horizon set for the boat.  I can remember man many years ago struggling to do layered applications of Flood.  Flaming Pear had a tutorial that was over complicated, but it is super simple with a cut out (no background) object.   I did a pants job of matching the waves and complexity settings between boat and town I can see now.  Methinks I should fix that. 😞

Absolutely love the creativity in your approach! Matching the waves can be tricky, but even as it is, the effect looks great — just a few tweaks and it’ll be perfect. Really appreciate you sharing the process too!

I like the style on this one @SG...  They're both only looking for the ice creams on the promenade. 🙂

It's Yorkshire.  Must be a sticky wicket.

Still just scraping along in a new sense, Dave; but it gets worse.
