Something for the Weekend - Part 243 - Stoned!

Hi,
Thanks to Trevor for creating our last 'Smörgåsbord' challenge, and thanks to all who took part in it. There were some very clever, and imaginative, images.

For this week's starter image, we have these pebbles on a beach. You could use them as a background, a pattern, a texture, or cut them out and use them as indidividual objects. How far will your creativity take you?

The “rules”:

  • Use the starter image as at least part of your own image entry.
  • Anything goes, as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright, etc.
  • Anyone, and everyone, is welcome to have a go, whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert. This is not just for our forum “regulars”.
  • There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off your skills, or bring a bit of humor and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!
  • The starter image is made available for you to use in this forum challenge only.

To download the starter image, hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right. Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser).

When posting back your image — please use the blue reply button in this first post and use the 'Insert Photos' icon at the top of the reply box. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry, then please use the grey reply button next to their image post.

Have fun!

Dave

Clearly the infamous rock necked swan, Trevor! I think the lighthouse keeper needs to go easy on the kerosene!

It was nice being able to add audio, but I couldn't get the levels high enough, so you'll need to turn the volume up high when watching this.  🙂    I did it with Photoshop, and it was a bit of a pain.  I learned lots of new stuff, but if I do any more, I'm going to use AE or PremPro.

One thing I am wondering about is that the tortoise started as a frame animation, and when converting to a video timeline, it kept the speed about the same by using three video frames for each frame animation frame.  So if you change a jerky frame animation to video in Photoshop, you are going to get a jerky video.  Note: I have not tested this yet.  I'd love to hear if there are workarounds, and if AE, perhaps, can twean frame animation frames to smooth things out, if anyone has experience with this.

I started on a new animation (also in Photoshop) and it was pretty flakey.  It reminded me of how hit and miss Photoshop can be when doing FT Step & Repeat with Smart Objects, and Shape Layers.  Sometimes it won't work, but starts to play nicely after a restart.  BTW we have a workaround for S&R with Smart Objects now, which is super cool.

Thanks Dave.  I am having a wee bet with myself about who will be the first person person to interpret 'Stoned'?

I've just _got_ to share this NZ 'safety' video  featuring three Maori children, (so you might not know some of the jargon).   It's a serious subject, but still funy as. 🙂

The chuby lad 'Julian Dennison' is in a NZ classic movie with Sam Neil called Hunt for the Wilderpeople

It's one of those movies you can watch multiple times.  A very cool, very Kiwi movie.
