Stamp Tool

New Here ,
Aug 01, 2025 Aug 01, 2025

My stamp tool isn't working and I don't know how to get it working again. I tried resetting it, I've changed the layers and I tried to deselect with CMD+D and nothing seems to be working. Does anyone know what I should do?

What exactly happens when you try to use it? Is there any sort of error message?

Tailgating on Semaphoric's great questions,

make sure

  • Mode is set to Normal
  • Opacity and Flow are not 0%

I don't use the Stamp tool very much lately, but I remember it would seem to malfunction from time to time and I always found that the tool had mysteriously been set to Darken, or Lighten, or one of the dozens of other choices.

A non-destructive way to use the tool, and in your case, Janice, to test the tool, is to create a new layer.

That way, with a blank new layer, you can see if you're stamping.

A screenshot illustrating the problem would be helpful. Please ensure that the Layers panel is expanded and visible so we can gather more information and potentially guide you in resolving the issue.
