For change a texture image file to Normal map, I just excuted Filter > 3D > Generate normal map. But normal map generator doesn't appear.

Same image was still there after a few blink in the menu window.

So for reset the Photoshop, I tried to reset launching(launching with pressing alt+ctrl+shift), but it seems fail.

I'm using Photoshop 2019 on windows 10.

I need some help seriously.

Thank you.

Hello.

Thank you for your help!

Actually, my problem was number 2. The filter was seen on my menu and nothing happened when it was activated. Normal Map Generator window did not open and original RGB image was not changed to Normal Map. It just blinks a few times.

Surprisingly, the filter worked normally when I applied the filter for making a demo capture shot which will be shown for you.
Obviously this morning I installed and tested the 2020 version, but it didn't work and I have tried all the simple steps I should take, such as resetting the program, rebootin.. but Now It's working!

Maybe I have a ghost on my computer. The problem has been solved automatically.

Thank you.

'window asking to recreate my preferences files' = the system is missing files or [more commom] the file it has does not match the hardware i.e, wrong gpu driver or wrong verson of Photoshop listed

your question is unclear mate, when you make a simple texture and want to generate a normal map from it which issue are you getting;

  1. the filter for normal maps is there but its grayed out?
  2. the filter is there but clicking it does nothing... perhaps it tries to open but times out?
  3. the filter is there and the ui {see my example image] pops up but no map is made i.e, the screen is black or just locks up?

so for example;

in the 1st screenshot you have the move tool selected instead on one of the drawing options and you also don't have a layer picked... the default is then to show all layers of which one is locked

Hello, can you check if it works in 2020?

What are the specs of the file you are working on? RGB? size?

It is not clear if you did get the window asking to recreate your preferences files. (you can also get it easily from Edit>preferences>General )

Also tell us if you are running the latest version of 2019, from the help>system info... menu

Hello.

I have checked still not working in 2020. and also I tested several images, but the normalmap generator (and bumpmap generator.)still didn't show up. They were all RGB 8bits image files which were under 2048x2048.

I can't understand clearly the meaning of  'window asking to recreate my preferences files'. Just let me know how to check that in preferences>general menu.

My Photoshop 2019 version is '20.0.6 20190724.r.80 2019/07/24: 1207344 x64'

and 2020 version's one '21.0.1 20191106.r.47 2019/11/06: 3152b481f18 x64'

Thank you for your fast supporting.
