The History action list doesn't scroll enough

Explorer ,
Sep 24, 2025 Sep 24, 2025

(Windows 10)

The History list doesn't scroll enough - I work with 2 24" monitors - with Photoshop I work on one of them.

Since the last 2 updates, when the history action list is full, I can't see the last couple of items.  Since I often make a lot of edits, not being able to easily go back just 1 or 2 steps is difficult because I don't see the last one or two.  It's possible that the last 1 or 2 are below the task bar.

I hope there's something I can do, or something can be done about this.

Aren't the history steps deleted when the project/photo is saved, or when Photoshop is shut down?

By @Birdwoman

The History panel is cleared when the Photoshop Document is closed.

You are also missing three icons at the bottom of your Toolbar, due to the Photoshop window being moved down so it is partially off your screen. You can resize the Toolbar to display in two columns if you don't want to resize your Photoshop window to make it fit.

Your screenshot shows that your History panel is floating. Try resizing it smaller by dragging the top edge. After it is smaller, move it up higher so it appears in your monitor.

I've tried resizing the History panel.  It doesn't resize.  And I don't get the blue line when I drag it to the top edge.

I had asked if the *memory* used by the History bar is "returned" when Photoshop is closed.  (I always get a fresh history bar when I open another photo to work on.)

I've tried but I'm not comfortable with the 2-column toolbar.  I don't really use the tools which are out of sight.

My apologies for misinterpreting what you meant by "Aren't the history steps deleted".

No problem.  Just wish this issue can be resolved, but I seem to be missing objects and controls that others have, like not being able to resize the history bar, which I tried to do before posting here.  And it doesn't "stick" to the top bar - no blue line.  It's kind of frustrating.

Forgot to answer this .... I don't know what my scaling is set to, and it's been a long time since I adjusted it and I don't remember where to do it.  But I do know changing the scale messes up all my shortcuts, and it takes time to get them re-organized.  So I'm very reluctant to make scaling - especially since the problem as I stated is new.
