The History list doesn't scroll enough - I work with 2 24" monitors - with Photoshop I work on one of them.
Since the last 2 updates, when the history action list is full, I can't see the last couple of items. Since I often make a lot of edits, not being able to easily go back just 1 or 2 steps is difficult because I don't see the last one or two. It's possible that the last 1 or 2 are below the task bar.
I hope there's something I can do, or something can be done about this.

Aren't the history steps deleted when the project/photo is saved, or when Photoshop is shut down?
By @Birdwoman
The History panel is cleared when the Photoshop Document is closed.
You are also missing three icons at the bottom of your Toolbar, due to the Photoshop window being moved down so it is partially off your screen. You can resize the Toolbar to display in two columns if you don't want to resize your Photoshop window to make it fit.
Your screenshot shows that your History panel is floating. Try resizing it smaller by dragging the top edge. After it is smaller, move it up higher so it appears in your monitor.

I've tried resizing the History panel. It doesn't resize. And I don't get the blue line when I drag it to the top edge.
I had asked if the *memory* used by the History bar is "returned" when Photoshop is closed. (I always get a fresh history bar when I open another photo to work on.)
I've tried but I'm not comfortable with the 2-column toolbar. I don't really use the tools which are out of sight.

My apologies for misinterpreting what you meant by "Aren't the history steps deleted".

No problem. Just wish this issue can be resolved, but I seem to be missing objects and controls that others have, like not being able to resize the history bar, which I tried to do before posting here. And it doesn't "stick" to the top bar - no blue line. It's kind of frustrating.

Forgot to answer this .... I don't know what my scaling is set to, and it's been a long time since I adjusted it and I don't remember where to do it. But I do know changing the scale messes up all my shortcuts, and it takes time to get them re-organized. So I'm very reluctant to make scaling - especially since the problem as I stated is new.

I just noticed this - the top items on the History list are still in sight, they're not disappearing. Thus, I can't see the newer steps.

I'd like to see an Option to reverse the order of the action history list, so it's faster and easier to see the most recent actions.

Hi @Birdwoman,
Thank you for sticking with this through all the troubleshooting. From what you’ve shared, it looks like the History panel window is extending below the dock at the bottom of the Photoshop interface. When that happens, Photoshop can’t show the full panel, and it also prevents the panel from resizing or docking correctly.
Before we try anything else, please try the following:
• First, save your current workspace as a new custom workspace (Window > Workspace > New Workspace). This ensures you don’t lose your layout.
• Then switch to any other workspace (for example, Essentials) and click Reset Workspace. This forces Photoshop to rebuild all panel positions and sizes, including the History panel.
• After it resets, check if the History panel now resizes and scrolls properly.
• You can then dock the panel by dragging it toward the right-hand panel dock until you see the blue highlight line appear. I’ll attach a short GIF that illustrates exactly what the docking should look like.
If the History panel behaves normally after resetting the workspace, you can return to your saved custom workspace and rebuild it from there.
Let me know how it goes after trying the workspace reset. If needed, we can continue from there.
Best,
Anshul Saini

Note that several people have mentioned docking the History panel already and were told that she can't get the blue line.
Also note that in addition to the History panel, the Status bar is missing and the Toolbar is cut off. This has also been addressed in this thread previously and is most likely the issue.

What it looks like to me in that screenshot, is that the application frame ignores the Windows taskbar.
So go into Windows Settings and Hide the taskbar (in case you worry, it pops back up when you bring the mouse cursor to the bottom of the screen). Does this bring the missing parts back?
With the taskbar hidden, resize the PS window. Click this button to "un-maximize" (or whatever it's called) the PS window - then you can resize it freely:
Unhide the taskbar and re-maximize the Photoshop window. Better?
BTW - if the blue line doesn't appear, it's because you're not dragging far enough. Grab the panel by the header, and drag until the cursor - not the edge of the panel - hits the designated docking area.

Just for clarity ... Nothing is really cut off as I have 2 monitors. Following another suggestion here, I now keep the history list on the other monitor. It has been working. All my other menus and toolbars are docked in the PS window on the working monitor.

Thanks. The list has been scrolling since I moved it apart from the main screen.
Other than moving/dragging parts - e.g., the History list - around, not sure about resetting the work space.
