Tool Presets Not Saving

Photoshop: 21.0.2

This problem is maddening I have spent WAY TOO much time trying to solve it.

I do a lot of web graphics and I have a lot of Crop Tool presets I use.  I have a new Mac with a clean install of Photoshop 2020.  I have tried everything to get the Crop Tool presets to save and they will not.

Everytime I I load my Crop Tool presets and close Photoshop they dissappear and revert to the defaults next time I load Photoshop.

What I've done so far:

- removed and reinstalled photoshop

- ensured "/Users/USER NAME/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop 2020/Presets/" is read and writeable to everyone

- read numerous articles ... including the previous posts on this forum regarding the problem. Tried those solutions and they are not working.

What must I do to get my Crop Tool presets to save. This is maddening! I should not have to spend hours reseaching this.  I have the Full Adobe Creaitve Suite Edition and have had it for years.  This is unacceptable.

Click on your desktop and go to Apple>System Preferences and navigate to Security & Privacy > Privacy tab > Full Disk Access. Click the lock icon in the lower left, enter your admin username & password. Click the + icon and add Photoshop to grant access to your hard disk.

Hopefully the above will work.

macOS Catalina 10.15 has incorporated the most major changes to application compatibily since Apple switched from PowerPC to Intel processors so it could take some time to iron out all the kinks.

Unfotunately after trying this solution it did not work for me 😞 Still manually loading my presets each time I open Photoshop.

Turns out that is a bug that is present in the windows version as well and with all tool presets, so what i suggested about the Privacy settings probably won't work. However, there are a couple of other ways to save crop presets.

1. Save as a Crop Preset instead of a tool preset

2. Define a New Tool Preset for the Crop Tool and save it before closing out photoshop.

    Then your saved Tool Preset(s) should show on the fly-out menu list for tool presets.

Same problem, same osMac Catalina 10.15.2.
Very frustrating! I have used PSE for years.

However, my version of Photoshop Elements 2020 is 18.0, downloaded in November 2019. I cannot find how to upgrade my version. I have re-downloaded, but it is the same 18.0.

A related(?) problem is that with this version I can no longer CMD+C or V to copy/paste. Also very frustrating.

PS - Apple system prefs fix mentioned in this thread and others does not fix the problem.

I just updated 1/30/2020 to the newest version of Photoshop CC, Windows 10, and assumed this would be fixed...but it's not. I have been using the same preset files for years and never had a problem. They are TPL files. Same problem as other have mentioned. I have to load them everytime I start photoshop. Maybe there is another way to do the same thing, but I don't want to reprogram my XKeys keyboard. These presets are tied to many actions I use on a daily basis. Is a fix coming?

I have windows 10 Pro - currently updated 4/6/20.  I have the same issue and I cannot install V 21.1.1 because it will not run on my machine.  The most recent photoshop I can use is 12.0.3.   I'm getting seriously tired of having to load Tool Presets every time I need them!

mine is windows 10 home...but i doubt that makes a difference.

Version 21.1.1 will not install correctly on my computer.  That version of photoshop will NOT work at all on my computer...... So I will wait for future versions, I guess...

I don't get an error mesage at all, but when I try to use the Photoshop V 21.1.1 there is just a blank window that comes up.  There is no menu a the top, and there are no tools to the left, etc.  I can't click on anything to make it change.   I am using V 21.0.3.

I worked through the two suggestions you gave via links.  I only have one graphics driver and one graphics card.  My NVIDIA Control Panel didn't show "High-performance NVIDIA processor" as an option.  I assume mine is always on that setting.

 If there are any settings that are wrong, let me know!

When the newest version of Photoshop is installed, V 21.1.1, there is no menu so I can't go to the Edit> Preferences> Performance area and change anything, like deselecting the "Use Graphics Processor" item.  I allowed Adobe Tech Support to connect remotely and try to install the latest version of Photoshop.  They couldn't get it to install and told me to just wait for the next version.  The same problem occured again and again - I got a blank window that didn't function and had to shut it down with "Task Manager".  They gave up.   Below is a screen shot of my Performance Preferences for my version of photoshop: V 21.0.3.

Sorry, but this update did not fix the problem. My Mac with Big Sur and the settings for full disk access has no bearing on saving manually created presets.  e.g. Selective Color
