Trying to open a PSB File and getting a disk error message

Hi

I am currently running Photoshop 24.0.1 on a 2019 iMac with 16GB ram. I have a 4.5gig PSB file that I cannot open, upload or move due to a 'disk error' message. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to fix this problem?

Thanks

It sounds like a corrupt file. If you can't copy it in the Finder, you'll want to pull a copy from your backup.

Can you copy the document, without involving Photoshop?

How much free HD space do you have on your Main HD/Scratch Disk?

The disk error message can come up if you start to run out of HD space, especially with a file that large.

I have 409GB of free space on my scratch disk.

Do you know what the uncompressed size of the document is? a 4.5 GB PSB has the potential to be quite large.

I've seen PSBs end up over 200 GB when opened which means your HD may not be large enough for the file.

First I'd run Disk First Aid in Disk Utility to make sure your disk is up to snuff.

Thankyou for the suggestion. I have tried this but I still cannot open the file due to a disk error?

In the Finder, can you copy/paste (duplicate) the document?
