New external, 2 tb, tried new cables though they are both newer as well. PS randomly shuts down and shows the image attached.
It was only after the lastest update to Photoshop Beta that this has happened. However, I tried working in PS Beta and no problems. Emptied all caches, restored preferences and went back to normal Photoshop release and it still randomly happens.
I've tried all the basic stuff besides reinstalling PS, any other insights?
Honestly that error message doesn't lie - there is something wrong with your disk and you should reformat or exchange if it is new. Example - if you have a SanDisk 2Tb external they are notorious for having disk failures and could be causing the issue. It seems "random" because it fails when it hits certain sectors of your disk.

Hi @design224 how is the 2tb external connected? USB-C or faster? What disk format is it - SSD?

It's a LaCie @Tb (one of those Designed by neil poulton)... connected by USBC.
That makes sense that when it hits a certain sector, it may show that....I'll first backup and reformat that drive. Haven't had any issues with it for months. I have a couple of Seagate 1 tb that are really solid and should maybe try a few days just to see. Thanks for the comment

As Kevin says. Those messages are real.
An external disk is always a very suboptimal solution. There's a lot of traffic on that disk, and it needs to happen quickly and accurately, or Photoshop fails.
