WHAT IS THE POINT OF LOCKING A LAYER?!??!?!?!?

I locked my other text layers because I don't want to select them, The text layers are overlapping because I attempting a color split effect of specific words and I want the alignment to be exactly how I want it to be over said words. When I select the unlocked text layer, adobe selects the locked layer and then gives me this message, which make sense BECAUSE I DONT WANT SELECT THE LOCKED LAYERS

WHAT EXACTLY IS THE POINT OF LOCKING A LAYER IF IT IS STILL SELECTABLE?

You can untick the "auto-select" option for the Move tool in the "options" section.

There are different locking properties:

* Transparency

* Image

* Position

* Prevent auto-nest (artboards)

* All (of the above)

Layer selection isn't a locking property. You still need to be able to select a layer to say unlock it after locking it.
