Credits lost after useless generative fill

As soon as I use the generative fill in Photoshop, a credit is deducted after the presentation of the result - regardless of whether the result corresponds to what I need or whether it does absolutely nothing usefull.

Couldn't an alternative be introduced?

After generation, the user is asked (before he can use the result) whether he wants to use it? If he answers “No”, the result is discarded, if he answers “Yes”, he can use the result and the credits are deducted? If I take my car to the garage and I am not at all happy with the work carried out, the garage must also rework it.

That's how it is for me as a photographer - if the customer is not satisfied, i have to rework and can't charge the customer extra for it.

If there is an opportunity to save credits, many users will reject the result but use it anyway just to avoid paying.

You use the provided environment and you have to pay for it.

To be honest, I think a better analogy is to demand your money back at the casino because you didn't win...

Let's be realistic: Generative AI isn't a specified work order. There's no "intelligence" at the other end that can understand what you desire. It's a roll of the dice, and the result is an average of all images in the bank that fits the prompt. That's all.

It doesn't have to be like this. Adobe could show the result of the generative fill in a preview window - with lines criss-crossed as copy protection, for example.

The user can only use the result after confirming it, and then the credit can be deducted.

You use the infrastructure provided by Adobe for the AI and a fee in the form of credits must be paid for this use. First of all, regardless of the result.

You give the AI information about an area or terms about what you want to use for the Generative Fill and then you get a corresponding result based on this information. If the result does not suit you, you may have used the wrong terms to generate it. How is the AI supposed to know what you want exactly?

But as mentioned above, you used the infrastructure. You cannot hold anyone responsible for an inappropriate result if your input is inaccurate.

@D Fosse  That is a great analogy and why I dislike seeing 'creativity' used in the same sentence as 'generative AI'
