This is available today as you open an image, you can click Remove Background within the Contextual Task bar

In addition to the contextual task bar, it's also available in "Quick Actions":

Also available in the Properties panel if the layer is a floating layer (not a locked flattened Background layer).

Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately, when I use this Bulk remove for the background, Some images get parts of them cut off, see example:
