I'd love a better way to organize brushes, shapes, and styles. Perhaps a way to tag them, then search or sort by tag.

Sorry Chris - I do NOT agree with you in this point of view.

And you and I do NOT have to agree on everything ;)

I think you're wrong - but I do understand how you technically will call it a new brush.

I give up on trying to explain how it world in the real world.... Especially if you're not able to understand the analogy.

You guys should try to listen more. We do post and reply these issues for a reason. Do not get in the defensive position right away. Remember we all love the application and just want to have the best results from it.

I think the analogy you are going for is new tires, not an entirely new car (you don't get a new Photoshop with brush changes). You do not get a new preset when pressing harder with a pressure sensitive brush in Photoshop. However, any change to a brush setting is technically a new brush whether that settings is changed as often as Size, or less commonly such as Hardness or Scattering. That is simply the nature of brushes. Is that necessarily the best way things could work? Maybe not.

No, your analogy is not even remotely applicable to this situation.

Changing the size manually results in several internal changes to the brush data -- it is not the same as using a pressure sensitive tablet to change the size.

Again, changing the size of the brush results in a new brush object, which needs to be recorded as a different brush (because it is a different brush).

A Race car driver does not get a NEW car just for changing the tire pressure !
It's still the same car!

That is probably the worst analogy I've heard in the past several years (and that includes election years).

Never the less it's true!

You do NOT get a new brush just because you press harder while using it - it's still the same pen. Right?

On the image below you see different brushes.
Brush no 4 will make just as wide a stroke as brush no 1 if I press hard enough.
But it's still brush no 4 - Right?

In Photoshop changing the brush size will NOT make it into a NEW brush - just an altered version of the same brush.

Changing from the "Soft Round Pressure Opacity" to the "Grass" brush is changing to a new brush!

In my world of Photoshop , resizing the brush does NOT make a new one.

The feedback we received while testing the feature didn't indicate any need for such a choice.

This actually goes even funnier because you can change the brush size in the same window, so you have slider, exact value and 7 sizes in picker. Really helpful for a person who loves to have 100% control on brush sizes but not that helpful for anyone who actually use more than 1 brush

Yeah, those are probably the same millions of users that love the the way 'step backwards' switch the layers.

Why couldn't you have given users a choice? Simply to put the brush to the picker on any change OR when selecting a preset?
