P: Option to hide cursor on wacom cintiq

LEGEND ,
Dec 18, 2012 Dec 18, 2012

Please have a way to eliminate the cursor when using a Cintiq. I need to do detail work and that cursor is always in the way of what I'm drawing! I've been using Photoshop for 18 years, use it every day as a professional story artist.

Does it work to use the precise cursor by either setting the preference or turning on [Caps Lock] while your painting?

That hashmark is worse than the brush icon when working with fine detail. I'm working on a Cintiq, so I can see what I'm drawing and don't need a cursor to see where my brush tip is. I'd like to have the option to make the cursor invisible.

I also use a Cintiq. I really need this option - I can hardly paint details with the cursor being visible. Shocked to find that this hasn't been implemented yet.

I'm shooting drawing videos directly offscreen (Cintiq as well) and at the moment I'm frantically searching for the cursor graphic in the source files so I can edit and remove it. Hardly the most intuitive way so a preference would be a lifesaver!

Lazy Nezumi plugin to the rescue! (again)
You can choose to always hide the cursor, or only when you are drawing. :)
Check it out here:

There is an app called Astropad that allows you to mirror your mac screen and this has a tickbox saying 'Hide cursor when drawing'. Surely this should be an available option for Adobe products rather than relying upon 3rd party plugins.

Nice, but for Windows only.. They hint there may be a mac version at some point...

When are we likely to see an update to Photoshop (and other software) enabling us to remove the cursor when using a wacom cintiq on iOS?

I know I'm not alone here!

Hi,

Yes, more custom cursor options would be great.

Thanks,

Thanks All for bringing this to light again, it's been 5 years and still no regard for this issue from Adobe.  I agree it should be a preference to opt out of having a cursor image.

Being able to see Photoshop working with the 'Hide Cursor When Drawing' tick box is enabled via AstroPad makes it even more annoying knowing it can be done and is very useful!! 5 Years!!

Was reading this thread while looking for a way to record live line drawing in Photoshop without seeing the cursor.

I found this little preference pane:  http://doomlaser.com/cursorcerer-hide-your-cursor-at-will/ which does the trick very neatly.  You can toggle the cursor on and off with a hotkey, and it works in Photoshop.

Thanks Will. I have tried this but found it too glitchy for what I do. Now my OS won't install it; saying it can't recognise the developer. This proves there are other 3rd party developers who are willing to help. Why is it then that Adobe are't willing to add such a seemingly simple preference to there applications...??? Come on Adobe, this would be SO helpful!!

I see Adobe's latest photoshop update hasn't dealt with this issue again. It's obviously not a 'Top Customer Request'. How disappointing! I have my fingers crossed for the next update, but not so much that I can't do my work. Come on Adobe/Wacom... What's the issue here???

A lot of us have been waiting for this for a LONG time, and the only plugin that addresses this is windows-only. It's very distracting to have to look at a virtually useless crosshair or brush outline when we have all the visual feedback we need.

I've been using Photoshop for over 20 years and never have I seen Adobe take so long to adapt to such a simple request that thousands are asking for.

Seriously. Make it happen, please!

It's kind of sad when a thread has more unfollows than votes.  It would be great to see this feature request gain some steam.

Has anyone with a Cintiq reached out to Wacom about a solution?  Seems if Astropad can do it on the iPad that Wacom could probably do it on the Cintiq as well.  Maybe.

It doesn't hide the crosshair. I've tried to find any additional setting in PS or AP to remove the photoshop-originated crosshair, and it is still there. Very distracting and unpleasant.

the crosshairs on the small brush sizes block your view of your work while painting
why not give users the option of removing them in preferences?

Gets my vote too.

I would like to see an option to hide cursor when painting (applying pressure with a brush tool)

Would help a lot making animated things with the screen recording.

And when doing fine details you see what you paint, so the cursor is kind of a distraction in some cases.

Please Adobe.
