Workflow Metadata Option

My problem is:

When I create a Workflow with the following steps, see below, I end up with images 2 to 3 times larger than when I Save for Web. I also need to resize horizontal and vertical images so the Long edge is 1200 px.

Change Format

PNG

16-Bit

sRGB

Save Transparency

Resize to

Fit - Long edge

1200 px

72 ppi

Don't Enlarge

Please add an option in the Apply Metadata task the reduces file size similar to the Save for Web option. I've tried all the options with no success.

Or

Allow us to Resize/Fit - Long edge in an Action or in the Image Size dialog box. The only solution that works for me is to create two Actions, one for Height and one for Width.

Please see the attached image that shows the same image exported via Workflow and Save for web.

Thanks,

Hector Godinez

When you write "create a Workflow", are you referring to Adobe Bridge?

One reason for the size difference is Save For Web saves as 8 Bits/Channel.

You don't want 16 Bits/Channel if you want the smallest file size.

For actions inside photoshop you can use File>Automate>Fit Image and enter the size you want for the long side in both fields.

For example, if you want 1200 for the long side, enter 1200 in both fields.

For images displaying on the web it's not necessary to set 72 or any other resolution value.

Photoshop's Save for Web strips that data when you set the Metadata to None
