When I click on the photo editor the main screen comes up and then I get the following error. "Photoshop Elements 12 Editor has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." I am running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit.

I have the exact same problem.  It just stopped working and now gives me the message.  Running Windows 7.  Has anybody found a solution?

I have the same problem. Working on Windows 8.1 64 bit.

Tryed to get help from members, chatroom and by phone, but nothing worked.

I purchased pse 12 on the 31th of may and since then I am trying to make it work.

Now I have given up and return my product, hopefully that will succeed, otherwise I loose my € 98,40 !!!

Go to your App Window and click on the Adobe Icon. I did and it went straight to Photo Editor and worked fine. Weird, but I still can't open the PSE 12 Icon on my desktop. Can only open it by going to the Apps window in Windows 8.1.

    Hummmmm...

I didn't realize this was a PC thing until your post. So it must be an adobe issue and not just

one of my wacky apple software upgrades. I am noticing more adobe issues that I am not liking. arghhh.

I am curious....did you call someone at PSE? I notice you have a fairly new app. Mine is PSE 6.

I would want PSE to walk me through opening up their app. (I am assuming you downloaded any upgrades for PSE 12, if there were any to download)

Windows 8.1 isn't that old either. (If PSE was not being helpful, you could always state..."maybe I need to add a review to this software, to let others be aware of this issue, so they

do not purchase this app") No one likes to get any bad reviews.

    Grrrrrr

    Hi Bigbigs33,

I never got a resolve answer from Adobe so I just uninstalled it and then reinstalled it.  so far I can get into it but I haven't tried to save anything yet.  Good luck.  I tried to get help from their chatting option and was told just to uninstall it.  Good luck

I've tried that twice. It worked to edit about 5 photos and then locked up again. It initially worked for a few weeks on the original install.  There's got to be something we're missing; there's too many other people having the same trouble. Holler if you get a real answer. Thanks.

This just happened to me and I've only had the program for 4 days.  What is going on - is there not anyone in this forum that can help.  So much for technical support when you need it.  It makes me mad that I spend 150 bucks on something that doesn't even freakn' work.  Get your crap together Adobe!

At least provide a number so we can talk to someone in support

I just upgraded to Elements 12 and got the same message " stopped working program will close" Apparently Window 8 which is what I have  with 64 bit version has compatibility problems. This is what worked for me..... right click on Elements 12 icon on desktop, click on properties, click compatibility, click the "box" "run this program in compatibility mode" windows 8 or 7 or whatever you have. Then I ran compatibility trouble shooter. "Good luck it worked for me".

I had the same issue start today.  No issues up until now.  Amazingly, this happened just after the return period expired.  Coincidence?
