Photoshop Elements 2022 for Mac fails with OS Sonoma 14.0

I have updated my Mac OS to Sonoma 14.0, and my version of Adobe Photoshop Elements 2022 has started to fail. Several options do not work.

I only bought this quite recently so I hope there is a free upgrade.

Does anyone know?

Thanks.

See my response to another user with Sonoma issues.

How recently did you purchase Elements 2022?  Elements 2023 was released more than a year ago and Elements 2024 was released last week.  So, no, you will not be receiving any free upgrade.

Hi Greg. Thanks for your reply. I think I bought it in December 2021, so it has lasted less than two years. If I upgrade to Elements 2024 do I have to buy the whole Application again, or is there a discounted price, do you know?

Once again, Adopey Photoshop forces us to re-buy and rebuy again.  Software should last longer than 2 years before forcing users to repuchase due to a computer OS upgrade!  What a ripoff

@mikeboursnell, yes you will be eligible for a prior user discount when you purchase from Adobe.

Hi Greg,

I believe the prior user discount is the normal $20 off we're always offered. It seems we're constantly "asked" to upgrade every time we upgrade our operating system.  It doesn't seem right that we are forced to buy again for a very minuscule discount.   Having said that, do we know that the '24 version will actually work with Sonoma?  I remember last time even after paying the ransom to Adobe the upgrade didn't work on the new system for several months.

Try updating to Sonoma 14.1 and see if there's any improvement.

That's to be expected. Elements 2022 is no longer supported by Adobe.

Only Elements 2023 and Elements 2024 have been updated and tested to work with Sonoma. No earlier versions will be updated or tested.

@mrubell, if anybody is forcing you to do anything, it is Apple who annually upgrades its Mac OS that fails to work properly with software that it is supposed to operate and which is only a year old.  I have Elements version 4 and every version since version 10 working on my Windows 11 machine.

As for Elements 2024 working with Sonoma, I have yet to see any reliable report of a problem.  You can download a free trial and check it out for yourself.

Note, Black Friday deal now: Elements 2024 is $60--cheaper than upgrade price of $80. But I agree, Adobe coud free-upgrade Elements to work with new Mac OSes. Other software (Affinity Photo) does this all the time. It is a ripoff. But if you like the program you are stuck.
