Automatically change cursor to white when working on black background

I work in Photoshop CS5, Windows 10.

Wasn't there a time where the cursor would automatically turn white when on a black background? How do I get that option back? It's impossible to see the black cursor on a black background.

I don't think light/dark was an option, but you do have some choices for changing your cursor, like from Standard or Precise to Full Size Brush Tip, by going to Preferences > Cursors. That might make it easier to see.

I can't remember how the CS5 cursor responded, but in CC2019 the brush outline will switch from dark to light depending on what it's above.

I did a little searching and other comments about cursors from CS5 had to do with leaving the Caps Lock on. That keeps it in the precise crosshairs cursor mode, which can make it harder to see.

CS5 used to be like the CC2019 - it would switch from dark to light depending on what it's above. I'm not sure why I lost that functionality

Hi

Photoshop CC2019 has a still a black cursor on black but it does have a white outline

Have you tried resetting Photoshop preferences

To restore preferences quickly using a keyboard shortcut: Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) as you start Photoshop. You are prompted to delete the current settings. The new preferences files are created the next time you start Photoshop.

Ged, I just did the "restore preferences" like you suggested and re-loaded Photoshop. It's still showing a black cursor on black.
