Clipping path is creating a soft edge. How do I fix this?

Creating a clipping path in PS 2019 or 2020 is resulting in a soft edge when the selection is pasted to another layer. All edges become feathered and my selections look like they have a halo. I need a hard edge. I cannot find anything online about this issue or how to fix this and I don't see anything obvious in tools. This began when I started using Catalina. Does anyone have any insight?

Hi. In the Paths panel, select the path and click the "Load path as a selection" button while pressing the option/alt key. In the window define the feather radius that you want. Also, you can make click right in the path and choose "Make selection" or select the same command in the menu panel.
