Frame Animation Timeline Playback BUG

Hitting the play button or spacebar to play a Timeline Frame Animation only plays a few frames at a time before stopping at a random frame. All my frames are set to 0 seconds. If when it stops I push the play button or spacebar again the animation/frames will play a few more frames and once again stop. This is not ideal if I am trying to preview my animation. This has been the case since updating to the latest version of PS and is a real bummer. Any help or information on how to fix this would be great!

Here is what I am running it on:
OSX 10.15.7

Model Name: Mac Pro

  Model Identifier: MacPro6,1

Processor Name: 6-Core Intel Xeon E5

  Processor Speed: 3.5 GHz

  Number of Processors: 1

  Total Number of Cores: 6

L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB

  L3 Cache: 12 MB

  Hyper-Threading Technology: Enabled

  Memory: 32 GB

  Boot ROM Version: 137.0.0.0.0

  SMC Version (system): 2.20f18

  Panel Illumination Version: 1.4a6

This is utterly a »stab in the dark«, but have you tried Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved? (It’s about the most generic trouble-shooting measurement in Photoshop but sometimes it works …)

I cannot reproduce the issue at current, but I remember that I have experienced it in the past; it just never was enough of a bother to me to look into it.

Thank you again, I reset everything and restored preferences to factory settings and I am still getting the bug. I called a friend with the same computer as mine but suped-up and with a slightly older version of Photoshop than the current update and he had the same problem except his setup played better than mine and played through a few times before stopping at a random frame, when set on loop forever. What would be my best course of action to have someone at Adobe look into this bug? Did you try and let yours play through and loop a handful of times? It is supposed to loop forever and not stop if you choose loop forever.

Hi, I have the same problem in Photoshop where in frame animation the playback stops after a few frames.
Have you found a solution yet?

What are the image’s pixel dimensions, what is the name of frames, …?

What have you done about performance in general so far?

Hi, Thank you. The stopping of playback on random frames happens with any pixel dimension image size and even if there are only 2 frames. I just tried it with a very small file at 140px X 140px and created 14 unique frames and it randomly stopped playback. I tried changing the frames time limit, looping settings even brought it down to 2 frames and it randomly plays and stops at frame 1 or frame 2. My Scratch Disk had 450Gb on an SSD connected with thunderbolt and my performance settings are ideal settings as well. I even tried to see if it worked by unticking the use graphics processor. And it does not. It does play fine as if converted to a video timeline but that is not my workflow. Also, it previews fine in Save for the web but that is time-consuming for my workflow. In the video attached, I am clicking play and it is randomly stopping then I am clicking play again every time the animation preview randomly stops.

Thank you for your help so far. hopefully, we can get this figured out. 🙂
