Keyboard shortcuts Home & End not working in Elements 2022

Explorer ,
Apr 04, 2022 Apr 04, 2022

I was looking through documentation to find out how to jump to the start or end of the timeline. I found ver. 2018 uses Home & End keys for this and Page Up / Down to move between clips. Page up and down work for me but Home and End keys (both on the keyboard and the numeric keypad) do nothing. Looking under Edit for keyboard customization I see these keys are mapped for this purpose. Is this an issue with ver. 2022 or just my keyboard?

Thanks

Which Home and End keys are you using? (I'm assuming you're using a Windows keyboard, although you don't say.)

These shortcuts do work if a) you have the Timeline panel selected and b) you use the Home and End keys that are in the keyboard cluster than includes Insert, Home, Page Up, Delete, End and Page Down.

With Steve's encouragement, I tried again.  On my Lenevo laptop the Home and End keys are combined with the left and right arrow keys.   If I hold down the "Fn" button, Home and End do work.  Thank you Steve!

Bill, I too have a Lenovo laptop, new last fall. Instead of holding the Fn function key, turn off the Num Lock and you can use Home (#7) and End (#1) with just the one press, with Steve's help.

Sorry, yes a Windows keyboard. I didn't realize you had to have the timeline selected since page up/down without it. I selected the timeline and I am able to move from beginnning to end and back. Thanks for the quick reply.

Like Bill I have a Lenovo laptop and the Home/End keys are not easy to use (I really dislike that one think about the laptop). So instead, I turn off the Num Lock and the keys for #7 Home and #1 End are much more convenient.

Have you got the Timeline panel selected when you press Home?
