MTS files. Addition of sound effecs not possible when using MTS files

Running  PE 2020. Sound MTS files accepted. However, adding sound effects to the clip is not possible

It's not clear what you're saying. Are you saying you can't add sound effects to your movie project or are you saying that you can't add audio effects to your MTS movie?

What happens when you drag an audio effect onto your video clip on the timeline?

One way or another (day) . It works today. No idea what happened. Just started up PE. Tried to add an audio effect to a clip with MTS extension... and it works without any problem. 

Probably tried to much the other day.

Again the same problem. It looks that it disappears for a while after starting up the computer
