As subject says, Will Premiere Elements 12 run on Windows 11, please?
I bought this with Photoshop Elements 12 and have never actually installed it. My teenage niece is wanting to get into video editing, has Windows 11, but I'm not sure it will run as the software is very old, of course.
I just wondered if anyone has had any experience of installing on a much newer Win OS
It would be brilliant if it did. Many thanks 🙂

Premiere Elements 12 may not be compatible with some of the video from newer phones.

Two ideas that MAY work to install and/or run old programs in Windows 10 or Windows 11
-RIGHT click the program icon or EXE and select a compatibility mode in the pop up option window
-and/or select Run as Administrator to assign FULL Windows permissions
-also https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/create-local-administrator-account-windows.html

Your teenage niece may do better using the program that comes with Windows 11. It is called ClipChamp. Premiere Elements is a good choice too, but not a version that was coded before your current operating system.

I did try to install Premiere Elements 12 but it hiccoughed at 'Organiser', then 'uninstalled' before completing. I haven't had time, yet, to try John's suggestions. However, I did ring Adobe this morning and spoke to a very helpful lady. Because I needed to add my email address to the laptop, in order to get a link, it was taking some time so she said she would phone me back at around lunchtime. Unfortunately, this hasn't happend so I'll ring them tomorrow. I have installed ClipChamp so, at least, my neice can use that if I can't get PE12 to install. Alternatively, I might look into an upgrade, depending cost 🙂
Thanks again for all your help 🙂

I don't think your very old version qualifies for an upgrade price, but check to verify

I think any version qualifies for the upgrade pricing.
You just have to make sure that either the old version is installed or you have the serial number in order to use it past the trial period.

If I can get an upgrade at a suitable price and IF my niece feels it's justified, after using ClipChamp, then I may look into it further. At the moment, I've just got ClipChamp installed.
I did contact Adobe, to ask if PE 12 is compatible. She asked for remote access, which I agreed but then she proceeded to download PE 12 to see what happened. It seemed to load and install but then, for whatever reason, the laptop crashed, leaving me with black screen and the company's logo. She told me it was installing etc and to wait, then she left me to it!!! The screen didn't clear. When I switched off and then on again, the same screen, black with logo, was still there. I couldn't do anything. Adobe wouldn't accept any responsibility but did apologise and gave me phone number for Microsoft. Unfortunately, you can't phone MS but just directed to web site. Back to Adobe, no help, so to Dell. Had Win 11 re-installed y'day and have had to set it up all over again. Lots of phone calls, each at least an hour. I was sick of it all, as you may imagine.
If I do try an upgrade, it will have to be for Win 11. Although I agree an upgrade price is reasonably good, I'm not sure it's justified in these circumstances. We'll see 😉
Thanks for all your help and suggestions, @Peru Bob ; @John T Smith ; @Bill Sprague I'm very grateful for your help and advice. 🙂

I'm very sorry that you had that grim experience. One very odd thing about it is that Adobe's support policy for Premiere Elements is limited to the current and last version. They are so strict about it that it often angers people with older versions. The reasoning is that they can't keep technicians trained on old code.
