Serial Number not working when signing in

Hello.  I have been working on a project in Premiere Elements 2021.  Suddenly, I am now not able to open the video editor and I am getting a pop up saying I need to sign in.  I select "Activate Product" and enter the serial number and push enter.  But then the same sign in prompt comes up again and it's just a continuous loop from there.  I had this same problem last year and I was told to delete some folders.  I tried the same thing, but I still have the same problem.  What should I do so that the serial number stays and I'm able to open the video editor?

Those solutions don't seem to work.  Just to make my issue clear, here are some pictures of my computer screeen.  The pop up in the first image shows up when I try to open the video editor.  I click the button that says "sign in".  Then I select "activate now."  I put in the serial number I was given when I registered the product.  I push "next" and the pop up disappears as if the serial number worked.  But then, the same pop up from the first image comes up again.  I have no idea why this keeps happening.

Try clicking Try now.

If it opens, go to Help > Sign in and see if it will accept your serial number.

Ok I clicked "try now" and selecting the free trial brought this screen up.  I then hit "activate now" and the serial number seemed to work then.  The project opened up.  However, there is a trial watermark on the video preview.  At least I can now work on the project.  But I'd like to have the watermark removed eventually.
