split long video clip and save each in different projects

Using Prem 2020 - have a long video clip but need to split it into 2 - and want to save one of the split clips in a second project. Is that possible? Do not want to lose either clip. (is there any way to split them in the Organizer)? Thanks

No, you can't split clips in the Organizer.

You can export each half of the clip separately in Premiere Elements and then use those exported clips in projects.

You will still have the original clip in case you need to use it in another project.

They way I would do it is to open two projects in Premiere Elements using the same long clip. Then trim them as needed. Niether Organizir or Premiere Elements will change your original clip. It is protected. Video editors read the original and "render", "transcode" or, more simply, output a new file by reading from the old.

Another way to do it would be to put the original in a Premiere Elements project and output intermediate files using the work area bars to mark the sections.
