Question

7 black bars appear on clips in premiere pro

Halfway through my project black horizontal bars started to appear on the screen both in the program and source view of Premiere Pro.

The problem seems to move from clip to clip each time I start the software, so it does not seem to be linked to specific footage. In addition to the black bars, the footage also stutters.

The rendered file looks fine and the black bars do not appear when playing the rushes in VLC.

I am on an Asus ROG 14 with 32GB RAM - I am not using an external hardisk / windows 11

it's a brand new laptop and uses the latest GPU driver

Hello @PaulDavidGerhard,

Thanks for the message. It’s been a long time since you filed this bug. Are you still having this issue? If so, the team will need more information from you to reproduce the bug. Can you provide the information required here? How do I write a bug report?

I'll move your post to the Discussions board while we await your information.

Thanks,

there are known issues regarding this:

https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/kb/known-issues.html

Premiere Pro crashes after updating to NVIDIA’s latest drivers

Issue: When running Adobe Premiere Pro on machines with NVIDIA cards, there is a known bug in the latest NVIDIA drivers, which can cause the application to crash.

Workaround:

  • If you have NVIDIA GeForce Experience running while you are using Adobe Premiere Pro and are experiencing issues, please quit the GeForce Experience application and restart Premiere Pro.
  • There is a known issue with the NVIDIA drivers, which can cause Adobe applications to crash when running alongside NVIDIA GeForce Experience.

did you try to reset the preferences?

try to switch renderers from project settings to software only,

if this resolves the issue, you might need to install studio drivers

for your GPU (if that works regarding the known issues mentioned)
