AVI files out of sync after update 29/08/24

Hi, I'm in the middle of a project and did the update yesterday.

Any AVI files I have imported since the update are out of sync by somewhere between 1 and 2 sec. All the files imported before the update are fine. but now I'm having to unlink the vid and audio and slide vid forward anywhere between 1.22 and 1.26. I have too many files and not enough time to have to do this manually.

All the files play fine in WMP, VLC etc etc. Please help

App version: Premiere pro 24.6.1 (29th August update)

Platform: Win 10

Agreed, the issue only presented after the update and only for AVI files. Don't really want to spend a lot of time re-formating them. just to get them to work - kinda defeats the object.

I was in the middle of a project and while it hasn't taken much longer to do, as you say, the workarounds are a pain plus I spent half a day going back to correct all the files I hadn't noticed and synced with a 2nd set of footage, chopped up, moved, rearranged etc. I haven't heard from Adobe for a while but hoping they can identify the bug and fix it.

Meanwhile, I'm looking at DaVinci as a possible alternative...

That does seem to work, but that's going to be a pain if I continually have to do it. It's just really odd that it's happening to some video files and not all of them. On one student's project, I simply redered the file, and the issue was fixed. I was hoping that would work on the other student's project; however, it did not. I pulled that student's project to a memory card and opened it on my computer, and it was perfectly fine-- no syncing issue whatsoever.

Lastly, I found that saving the individual file off of the card onto the student's computer fixed the issue-- not hard to do, but an inconvenience that I would rather not have to do.

I've been teaching with Premiere for a solid decade at this point, and I've never encountered this issue.

My best workaround was to drag the AVI files into the timeline, unlink from the audio, select the video and drag forward 1 sec 26 frames. Then trim each end. Not ideal but you don't lose too much from the ends. You can then either quick export as MP4 or just edit as is....

slow but it sort of does the job. until you forget and suddenly wonder why the new sequence is like watching youtube in 2007!!! haha

I believe I am having this same issue. We use Premiere Pro in my communication courses, and several students have come to me with this issue. I figured it was an easy fix, but I can't seem to figure it out.

Hi Ian21999873wooa,

Thanks for the details. We tried testing the AVI files at our end, but we were not able to replicate the issue. Is it possible for you to share a download link for one of the sample AVI media with which you are experiencing this issue? It will help us diagnose the issue properly.

Hello @Ian21999873wooa,

Thanks for the bug report. Please provide a sample clip for the team to inspect. They need that to verify the issue. See, How do I write a bug report?

I hope the team will help shortly. Sorry for the issue.

Thanks,
Kevin

so, any files already conformed for the project have the same result in 24.1. (When imported no conforming happened). I made copies of a couple of the files and imported those and they were fine (newly conformed). this only happens with AVI files and only since yesterday's update. I will now try reinstalling the update, making copies of the files I need and try again.

thanks

Hi,

Please try once in the 24.1 version of the Premiere Pro and then check whether it is working or not.
