Essential Graphics: Linked Styles Don't Save All All Caps

Community Beginner ,
Aug 15, 2024 Aug 15, 2024

The All Caps (TT) setting will not save to your new preset when creating a linked style in the Essential Graphics panel.

For example, if you want to create a specific style for a specific client's video series, you can adjust all the settings and save. However, All Caps will never save, so they must be manually adjusted in all videos.

Also, if you create a Linked Style and then adjust the All Caps setting, the Linked Style section will show that unsaved changes have occurred.

Hey Joshua@CS

We were able to reproduce a bug with the New caption track workflow, thanks for bringing it to our attention!

As a workaround, after creating your captions, select all of your captions, select None as a style, then choose the style you intend for the caption track to have.

Cheers,
Theresa

Hello Joshua@CS,

Thanks for filing the bug. I am Kevin, one of the moderators here.

A developer should respond here shortly, sorry for the delay. In the interim, you can give them more information. See, How do I write a bug report?

That may help them replicate this errant behavior. I wonder if anyone in the community can reproduce the bug. @Stan Jones, have you seen anything like this?

Thanks,
Kevin

I can verify that this bug appears across our entire team.

  1. Issue - All Caps will not save to Linked Styles in Essential Graphics.
  2. Adobe Premiere Pro version number: various, from 24.5.0 to earlier
  3. Operating system - macOS, several different. Sonoma 14.6.1 are my two machines.
  4. System Info: CPU, GPU, RAM, HD:
    • CPU Apple M3 Max

    • GPU (Intel-based Macs and PCs)

    • GPU driver (PC)
    • 36 GB

    • Internal
  5. Video format: All
  6. Workflow details: Essential graphics. Primarily working in 1080x1920 for reels/stories/etc, or 4k and 1080p.
  7. Steps to reproduce- (Very important!) 1. Create text style in the Essential Graphics panel using the program window's text tool. 2. Style as you see fit, but make sure All Caps (TT) is selected. Save it to the project or local or both. 3. In a new composition, create a transcript of the dialog. 4. Create captions from the transcript. 5. Select the new Linked Style you created. Note that all the text will be exactly as styles except the All Caps.
  8. Expected result - Text should be style as the saved Linked Style, and it will be, except for All Caps.
  9. Actual result -  Text is in Link Style minus All Caps.

Hi Joshua@CS,

Can you tell me what type of caption preset you're selecting and if you're modifying any of the preferences in that dialog?

Yes! Default! I choose the style from the style dropdown.
