Export SRT captions also exports disabled caption clips

Exporting SRT caption files from either the export tab, the file-export-captions or the Text panel, captions tab, will export all caption clips for the active caption track, also all disabled caption clips.
This works as expected with burn-in captions via the export tab, and also used to work as exptected for SRT files in older Premiere versions (just tested the last released 2024 and that also have the problem😵)

1. Generate a static transcript for a timeline via the Text panel in the transcribe tab
2. Create captions to a caption track from the transcriped text

3. Disabled a couple of the caption clips

4. export the timeline via the export tab and make sure to enable captions and set it to "Create Sidecar File" and SRT file
5. export

What should have happened?

A exported video and a srt file with only the enabled captions included.

What actually happened?
All captions in the timeline is in the srt, both enabled and disabled... not what should happen.

@RobertKjettrup,

Clever use of Shft+E! But I suspect that this is an unintended "enabling" for captions of the "enable clip" shortcut. And that's why there's no right-click option.

What you are calling a "caption clip" is a "caption segment." Also, the caption track is not a video track; it is its own type of project item. I suspect that if they used a "caption clip" concept, it would be the whole track - like the old caption workflow when a caption "track" was a video clip.

No matter; I agree that they could do this if they intended it.

The workaround is to duplicate the caption track, and delete unwanted segments from there.

What workflow are you using that needs the ability to disable individual caption segments? This is one of those oddities that is a feature request vs bug depending on your perspective.

Hi @jamieclarke
creating a simple caption track, setup as a Subtitle formar in the New Caption Track dialog.
Disable some of the caption tracks by selecting them and shift+E to disable (btw, why is there no context menu when right clicking an a caption clips so you could diasable it that way too?)

see screenshot below for what happens in an exported srt with a disabled caption clip.
