P: OMF Export from Premiere Not Working

Community Beginner ,
Dec 12, 2024 Dec 12, 2024

Running on Premiere Pro Version 25.1.0 (Build 73)

When I import OMF file from Premiere, it's only getting one audio track and layering it to several audio tracks. I'm opening the OMF on Audition. But when my collegue exports the same OMF from Premiere, when I open it on Audition it's correct (all the tracks are there with the correct audio). I've tried making a new project, exporting separate wav files then putting them on a new sequence, nothing works.

Hi @core787

Welcome to the Premiere Pro forums! We are glad to see you here. We need a few more details to try to help with the issue. Please see, How do I write a bug report?

In the meantime have you attempted to export an AAF and see if you have more luck bringing that into the project? Thanks for submitting your bug report. I hope we can help you soon. Sorry for the frustration!

Thanks,

Ian

Hi @LayaXIII ,

Have you also tried to use an AAF with embedded audio? The AAF should work just as well as an OMF for the current work around.

Thank you

Ian

I'm on a Macbook Pro M1 Max - 14.6.1 (23G93)

Premiere 25.1

The exported OMF file repeats the same audio clip on its track over and over.

I have about 16 clips on track 1 but the OMF just plays the first clip 16 times. They are of the correct length but seem to be pointing to the same audio file as whatever was the first clip on the track. Same thing happens to other tracks.

When the project is opened on the latest Beta it exports correctly.

This is with an OMF that has embedded audio files. Haven't tried with one pointing to a folder of files.

Separate Audio files has the same problem and the exported audio files are just the first clip of each track.

The OMF export is broken on Premiere Pro. The only workaround I have found is the export stem tracks. Is there anyone from Adobe working on this?

Same here! OMF is totally messed up when I import an OMF from PR in Pro Tools - My workaround is to downgrade a copy of the project and open it i Premiere 24 -and export the OMF from there. That works fine in Pro Tools.

Hi @Morten Corfit22608037wubj ,

Would you be able to share the OMF that is not working for you in 25.1? Depeding on your system and software another great workaround for now should be the use of an AAF. AAF's should still be functional. In the meantime could you send me the OMF and we can help investigate further?

Thanks

I tried that but Audition did not recognize the file on import. I did export with omf and selected separate files instead of embed and it sort of worked. Two of my files were placed on the timeline as edited but the third did not keep the edit points. I was able to slide the audio down to the correct edit point. Not ideal but workable for small projects.

Here's a link to the OMF in question. It just repeats one of the audio files and is missing five of the files.

Hi everyone! So I tried opening my project file using another laptop (Windows this time) and same problem. So finally, I downloaded Premiere ver 24.6.4, downgraded my project file (using Premiere ver 25.1), opened the same project and exported OMF and it works. So maybe it's a Premiere 25.1 problem?

@pauld5937403 Thank you for that. We have this logged as a bug. A current work around would be to use an AAF instead of an OMF.

Thank you

Ian

I also have this problem and it's very frustrating. I am the only person in my team to have the legal version of Premiere and the only one unable to deliver files. That's unacceptable.

Same issue here. Found out it was a problem at a bad time. Needed to mix a 30 minute broadcast show in a 14-hour day for a client. Editor delivered broken OMF on a Sunday morning. We couldnt do the mix. My client was upset, then had to use up their weekend to mix out of Premiere. I am stunned that this hasn't been fixed.

When exporting an OMF for audio mix, the result in the DAW is incorrect and repeated audio at every instance.

Adobe Premiere Pro 25.1

MacBook Pro M2

macOS Sequoia 15.1.1

12 Core

96GB Memory

External Hard Drive - Thunderbolt

Files: mp3, MXF 1920 x 1080 23.976, wav

non-multicam, 3 tracks of audio (VO, SOT, Music)

Steps: Open timeline, File>Export>OMF

Expected OMF to recreate audio tracks in DAW just as they are seen/heard in Premiere 25.1

Actual result was that music was correct, but the VO and SOT were the same randowm clip repeated at each edit

Premier Pro Support Team,

I am writing to inquire about the ongoing OMF export issue in premiere pro 25  . This problem is critical to my work, and if it remains unresolved, I may have to consider discontinuing my use of your editing software.

I would greatly appreciate an update on this matter.

Thank you for your attention.

For Adobe people that are monitoring this thread, I would like to add that I have a big project coming up Jan 21-24 that relies exclusively on the OMF export working properly. Is there anyway to fast-track this bug fix? Please?

Try exporting without trimming files (if that’s doable for your project)

I wouldn't expect much of a response as you gave absolutely no data to respond to.

So please explain in detail .... what you are doing, what you expect, and what happens instead. In specific details.

Along with your complete hardware and media specs ...  OS/CPU/RAM/GPU and the media format/codec data plus any and all effects typically applied.

As troubleshooting always requires specific data. "My car isn't starting, please fix your manufacturing" ... that's basically what your post says.  Who could guess what needs fixing?

Same problem here. Premiere Beta did export omf normally(v25.2 Apple silocon/intel). Normal version (25.1) exported only 3 wav-files (of 64).
macOS Sequoila 15.2/M1pro

Hopefully this gets fixes asap.

How did you get my editing software?

🙂

(Oh, this is a user to user forum, so, that part can usually be left out of the post, and spend the space giving some of the details Neil mentions.)

Though I've not used OMF before, I just exported a short project using both 25.1 and 25.2.0 b76 and they were the same. But my project (using my software :-)) is very simple, but they did open in Audition with several tracks.
