P: Unable to freely move clips and audio around on my timeline. Glitch, bug or setting?

If anyone is able to wave a magic wand and help me fix this issue then I would be so very grateful!

I am using Premier pro 25.1 on a windows PC, I opened up my project the other day to start work and I was unable to freely click on a clip and drag the clip about on the timeline with the same thing happening with audio. When I do click on a clip to move or drag it I am presented with the picture I have attached, in my program window.

I have tried everything on nearly every forum page I can find, reset all settings from splash, cleared cache, uninstalled and reinstalled softwear, new project, everything I can think of but I can't find anything anyway with someone with this same fault.

Thank you if anyone can save me!

I need help.. So when I grab a clip video or audio in my timeline and move it, the clip get drag away like if my mouse was somewhere else. It's kind of hard to explain so I made a video. I tried unistalling Premiere, I updated it, reset my preferences, tried an other projet, tried downgraded to an older version, I updated my graphic card driver. Nothing works I don't know what to do next.. Please send help.

Okay so turn out that I found a solution like 4 minutes after posting. If you have two monitors, just go on your screen display setting and change the scalling from 125% (Recommended) to 100% and you should be find.

Actually, you just need to have both monitors set to the same value.

Bonjour,

Merci,

Bernard

I started having the same issues this past week... Thank you, thank you, thank you for your post and the resolution (kinda) to the problem. I've got two different sized monitors and they were set at different scales. After I has set them both to the same scale everythying resolved.... except now my larger monitor has very small text because I scaled it down from 150 to 125. Thanks again!

On 2/12/2025 PremierePro started acting strange. I can not drag clips on the timline and can not move them up or down to other tracks unless my mouse pointer is way off of where I want the clip to go. This is the case in both PremierePro and the Beta Version on my machine. I've uninstalled and reinstalled and still have the same issue. I've changed my mouse and no difference.

Quando abro o projeto tento jogar os takes na timeline ele joga os arquivos fora de ordem e nao consigo trabalhar com os takes dentro de ordem.

Hi @Lloyd_Allen3612

if you are still experiencing this issue please know that it is a known issue and was observed after a Windows 11 update. Currently we have a couple work arounds you can try,

1) Local Programs -> Adobe -> Premiere Pro -> Right click on the executable file -> Properties -> Compatibility -> High -> Change dpi settings -> Redefine high dpi scaling behavior.

2) Match the monitor scaling for both the monitors (primary and secondary). They just have to match, doesn't matter if its 100%, 125%,150% --- they just need to match.

Thank you

Ian

If I change the scale to 100 it fixes the issue but I prefer to not do that

my best work around for this problem, change the monitor you have your timeline on to "make this my main display" in you windows display settings. Problem solved.

Yup this fixes the issue for me, not ideal to change it but at least it works instead of forcing a complete stop of the workflow.

Please see the screen recording for the actual issue.

This happened after the latest NVIDIA Studio Driver update.

I rolled back the driver but the same issues resurfaced.
