Premiere Pro 2024 and 2025 broken on Mac M3 chip.

I've recently updated from a 2019 iMac i9 to a 2023 Macbook Pro M3. I'm regretting my decision as it seems that Adobe products are not compatible with the M3 chip (despite being adverstised as so).

EVERY PROJECT I create, from scratch, updated from 24-25, imported etc. does not work. The preview files are not processing and the timeline crashes every time I try to move the play head.

I have checked through settings, uninstalled and reinstalled, turned off any extensions, stopped the additional audio processing and still the app is unusable.

Have trawled the forums, this seems to have been an issue since October 2024 with no response from Adobe. Is it now worth asking for money back and moving on? Or is there going to be an support offered?

Thanks for those details ... now let's see if some Mac specific users or staffers can help out. I don't see anything there that should be an issue, personally.

Specs and files above.

4K 25fps in a 1080p 25fps sequence. R3D files native converted from Log310 to REC.709.

Cache dumped yes upon opening (although not with shift, good to know).

I've tried simply opening, importing the project file and rebuilding the proejct from scratch.

Effects used are Lumetri colour on adjustment layers.

As another user, yes, I've seen some Mac users with issues posting here. But most Mac users, across all 'forms', are doing fine. So "we" need to sort what specifically is causing your issue.

Troubleshooting 101.

So, you're on a Mac laptop, but ... there are a number of unknowns here.

Have you ever simply launched Premiere with the Shift key down, and dumped all cache files?

How did you migrate the projects forward? "Simply" opening them in a newer version of Premiere? If so, did you clear all cache files after opening the project?

What media are you working with, codec/framesize/framerate/effects used et al?

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I'm working in R3D (Red footage).

The issue initially was just with projects created in 2024 which were updated to 2025. Now it effects all of my projects.

When working with the older projects - upon opening the project file, Premiere Pro runs slowly. The preview files for all footage (there is also some Go Pro footage) do not load. Then when trying to navigate the exisitng sewquence timeline, no preview loads (or missing media). After a few moments, Premiere then freezes and requires force quitting. The Program window is set to 1/8.

When working with a brand new project file, the preview files for the R3D no longer works on the Media Browser. Then once I try to import them, the app again freezes (no the computer but Premiere itself) and requires force quitting.

Hi @S25115846snlc,

Welcome to the Premiere Pro forums! We are glad to see you here. I'm sorry you're having issues with Premiere.  Can you tell me more about what type of footage you're working with and the steps to reproduce the problem?  When you say the timeline crashes, what do you mean by that?  We need a few more details to help with this issue. Please see: How do I write a bug report?  I hope we can help you soon. Sorry for the frustration!
