Premiere Pro 2024 - Scrolling & Zooming Timeline with Lots of Markers is Extremely Slow and Choppy

When I have footage on the timeline with a hundred clip markers laid out on the audio or video track, all of sudden Premiere starts to lag and get very choppy when I'm trying to scroll through the timeline.

This is a problem. Earlier versions didn't have this issue.

 

An example for me having so many clip markers is often times I have music with markers set to the tempo of the songs (matching the BPM). But when I'm scrolling or zooming in and out of the timeline, it's so choppy to navigate and focus on what I'm editing.

 

I can't believe I still have to use Adobe Premiere Pro 2021 for the smoothest experience to date.

2022 & 2023 have their own separate issues for me and I was hoping to use 2024 by now.

But the lag with the interface when working with multiple markers and clips is a dealbreaker.

 

Please fix this Adobe!

 

Versions used in video above:

  • v.2024 - 24.3.0 - build 59 (Premiere 2024)
  • v.2021 - 15.4.1 - build 6 (Premiere 2021) 

 

Platform used:

Dell XPS 8960

Windows 11 Version 10.0.22631 Build 22631

i7-13700K Processor

NVIDIA(R) GeForce RTX(TM) 3060 Ti 8GB GDDR6 (LHR)

32GB RAM

Update: Huge improvement in the new version of Premiere v2025 - 25.1.0 (build 73), finally!

Not as buttery smooth as v. 2021 but very much usable now. Thank you guys!

STILL an issue with newest update - 24.5.0. (June 2024)

Might even be worse!

How long do I have to wait for a new version worth updating to? It's been 3 years!

Adobe, please fix this ASAP!

Thank you for the reply and letting me know that they're aware of this issue and are currently working on it.

I just want to use the new features and join the crowd. But unfortunately I can't because of this.

This problem still exists in Premiere 24.6.1 (latest version).

AND also exists in the 25.1.0 BETA for the upcoming update for Premiere 2025.

Is this ever going to get fixed?
