Scrolling out too fast zooms in fully on timeline

When you zoom out in the timeline (too fast appearently according to premiere) It snaps back to fully zoomed in. This is a very very very annoying issue that i deal with on a daily basis.

Look at the bottom bar you can really see the zoom in this happens when i just scroll out a bit fast i really have to scroll really slowly in order for it not to completely zoom in.

Expected result: For it not to zoom in like crazy when i try to zoom out.

M1 Max, Premiere 23.2.0 build 69 (nice)

Much love,

I also have this issue. Ryzen 9 7950x, NVIDIA 4080 Super, 96gbs ram.
Premiere 25.2.1 (Build 2).

It is not a mouse issue, I play competitive online FPS's, I would notice if this issue was occurring elsewhere.

Following up @Kevin-Monahan you replied middle of last year. Is there a fix? It greatly impacts my workflow and is incredibly annoying. It happens nearly every time I scroll out of my timeline (which I do every few seconds) whilst using alt+scrollwheel down, to zoom out. It will punch me in to the max zoom on the timeline instantly.

I have attached video of it occuring.

Yeah, that's very similar to what mine does. I've been searching about it for the past couple of years. I played FPS too, and I had my jump bound to scroll down. I started noticing ghost jumps. I found that many Razer mice had scroll encoder problems, but also reports from other brands like Logitech, even high end mice. I have the Viper Ultimate wireless.

There's an easy test here in case anyone wants to try checking their scroll wheel:

This should cross out if you have an encoder problem.

I've been having this issue for a long time as well. I also have the Logitech MX Master 3S for Mac

By changing my scroll wheel options on the Logi Options+ app the following it has helped mitigate, but I can confirm it will still happen if I scroll fast enough

This has been a HUGE annoyance and would be absolutely amazing if we could get a fix!

I have had this on every version for years now. Both PC and Mac, every mouse I use.  The devs will never fix it - when do they fix anything?

This could actually be a mouse issue. It happens to me not just on Premiere but in normal web browsing, I scroll down to fast it stops in its tracks to scroll up a bit. If y'all can maybe try if that happens to you.

I'm having the same issue!

I'm using an M3 Pro, Premiere Pro Version 25.0.0 (Build 61), Logitech MX Master 3S mouse.

Hi David, I'm having the same problem (M3 Max, Premier Pro 25.1., Logitech MX Master 3S for Mac) but I've just found that if I set the thumb wheel to horizontal scrolling and use this in Premier Pro while holding down the option key, I don't get the weird scrolling behaviour.

Just want to add this is still happening to me, I have similar specs as the others here-- M1 Max Pro, Sonoma 14.6.1, Premiere Pro 24.6.3, Logitech MX Master 3S mouse. I just tested with a wired Razer Mamba Elite Mouse and it does not work, so this is definitely something to do with bluetooth wireless input or drivers for the Logitech mouse. However, this behavior did not appear until late 2023 update.
