Transcode Failure: Unable to match audio channels

Community Beginner ,
Aug 12, 2025 Aug 12, 2025

I have a 1920x1080 Sequence full of 4k source footage. I want to use project manager to export the individual clips from the sequence with handles the same preset as the general export (h264 1920x1080).

In Project manager I select my sequence.

Consolidate and Transcode

Source: Individual Clips

Format (H.264)

Preset (ts-2025-H264)

Options Checked: Exclude Unused Clips. Include Handles 72 Frames. Rename Media Files to Match Clip Names. Preserve Alpha.

No matter what format I choose, the transcode will fail and instead copy over the source clip resulting in extremely large collections from Project Manager. The same thing happens when I try to Render and Replace.

I feel like it's something simple that I'm missing, hopefuly one of you can point it out!

Hi @kyle_5074,

Thank you for reporting a problem and sorry you are experiencing issues. We need a few more details to help with the problem, like Premiere Pro version you are on and hardware/system information.

Could you provide more details on the 4k source footage audio info and file type? Did you modify any of the audio channels for the source clips or is the preset you are using changing the audio settings of the original file in some way? Have you tried using a different preset?

Sorry for the

Hi @Dani_V.

I know better and should have included those details!

Premiere Pro V25.3

Windows 11

Processor 12th Gen Intel i7-12700K 3.6Ghz

32 GB RAM

Nvidia RTX A4000 Driver Version 571.59

Source Footage

Type: MPEG Movie

Image Size: 4096x2160

Frame Rate: 23.976
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 16-bit - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
Total Duration: 00:01:06:00
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0
Alpha: None
Color Space: Rec. 709
Color Space Override: Off
Input LUT: None
Video Codec Type: MP4/MOV H.264 10 bit 4:2:2

The preset we use for our finished sequence export is an H264 and mixes audio into one stereo track. This is what is being applied in Project Manager. When I attempt to "Import Preset" the new one does not show up in the preset drop down list.

It doesn't even have to export as this preset. I just want to consolidate/transcode a sequence/individual clips in HD

Hi @kyle_5074
Can you share the project file with us? It would help if you included a few clips linked to that sequence and project. You can use any file share you choose and give @Dani_V. And myself file access. You mentioned,

"No matter what format I choose, the transcode will fail and copy over the source clip instead, resulting in extremely large collections from Project Manager. The same thing happens when I try to Render and Replace."

Are any of the clips transcoding? This may be related to the file type and the handles selected. I will look for the Project file and take a look once we have it.

Here to help

Thanks @IanB_360 and @Dani_V. . I've messaged you both the links to download project files and test clips. I've also included the media encoder preset and screen shots documenting the errors. Again, I just want to be able to use project manager to consolidate/transcode a sequence of 4k clips to HD.

Thanks again for taking a look into this!
