Video and Chroma "pop" using Geterative Extend

Hi, Folks.

Am I the only one?

Using a video that was recorded using OBS, then Remuxed to .mov, I tried Generative Extend for the first time. The video was of myself on camera sitting in my "office" at home. While the result was amazing, I did see a visible "pop" or change in video levels and chroma hue at the edit point. I was able to confirm the level changes using the Premiere Lumetri Scopes.

Video levels increased about 5 IRE and Chroma shifted slightly towards magenta.

Footage is 1920x1080 Full HD at 30p.

Thank you,

Bob K.

Good morning.

I had the opportunity to check Generative Extend with a CBR 30P 1920x1080 .mov as per Mr. Haugen's suggestion.

The recording was made using my Logi Webcam and OBS. Remux was turned off.

Here is a screen grab of the MediaInfo app:

Here is a Premiere Pro screen grab of the last frame of the recorded video:

Here is a screen grab of Premiere showing the 1st frame of the Generative Extend:

It's very difficult to see the difference using stills. The Gen Extend drops a bit in Luminance and Chroma shifts towards magenta. Please compare the Lumetri Scopes. It is noticeable however, when playing back. This may not be much of a difference to some, but it makes for a "Red Flag" in the world of PBS.

At this point, I don't have a way to check this with other file formats such as ProRes from home. My gut tells me that I'll get the same results. It seems to be a "Color Space" issue that occurs during the creation process of the GE?

I'm grateful for the technology and the result is just amazing. Unfortunately, if the need should ever arise where I need it at home with my camera records, It's not something I'm comfortable using due to the shifts in levels. The original video file size is under 8 MB if Adobe would like me to upload it.

Thank you and I look forward to the next revision.

Thank you.

I will check CBR and go directly to QT next time I record in OBS.

I'll also check other types of files when I can and will report back.

Have a great weekend everyone.

You have a VFR ... variable frame rate ... clip there. That isn't good for use in an NLE. Note it lists the max frame rate also?

I don't know why people using OBS do that, as I record straight mov out of OBS in CFR. Without troubles. I wonder if this would happen with using CFR out of OBS on your machine ... ?

Video Created with OBS Studio 31.0.2.

OBS was set to remux to Quicktime automatically.

Quicktime is what is used in the sequence.

Last frame of original video:

1st Frame of Extended video:

Levels changing are easily detected in Lumetri scopes.

Media Info app of original clip:

Premiere properties of original clip:

Premiere Properties of extended media:

Using the Bug Report format:

Issue – Using Generative Extend for video, there is a level change at the 1st frame of the extension that continues throughout.

Steps to reproduce – Extend a video clip by 2 seconds.

Expected result – I was expecting a seamless edit from original to AI generated footage.

Actual result - The AI footage has different Luminance and Chroma levels than the original.

Adobe Premiere Pro version – 25.2.1

Operating system – Windows 11 Pro / 23H2 / OS Build: 22631.5126

Video format -  MPEG-4 , camera model: Logi StreamCam set to 1920x1080 @ 30P.

Please let me know if you need anything else.

Thank you.

Drag/drop images directly into the reply box, no to the 'add files' thing. That should work.
