PP 24.0 is an awful upgrade at the moment. I have an Apple M1 Max 64GB Studio. Whilst PP23 had issues (such as a strange lag is I toggled proxies on and off which necessites a restart of the software) I could get by. PP24 has, without fail, randonly crashed every single time I have tried to edit. The Adobe check shows there are no issues with my system. I am only running PP and ME. On top of that I tried to sync a multi cam project and the result was pathetic. Audio would disaapear from the WAV file, then appear half way thorugh on the timeline. It was not even close to being synced up. I used PP23 to multi cam the same files and it worked as it should.
I cannot believe Adobe are still pulling this rubbish with real competition from Resolve and FCP now. I am a legacy Windows user so I am used to PP but I am seriously considering alternatives after yet another mess from Adobe.
I wouldn't mind but it is the most expensive of all the NLE's out there too. Adobe could stop messing about with AI and get their base software working.

I swung by to see if Adobe has made any improvements to their disasterous 24.0. Saw your post thought I'd throw in.
Bottomline. I feel your pain. I had 3 "techs" on my computer and they had no idea what was going on. (i9-10940x, RTX3080 & 64GB of ram) My adobe is skipping, stuttering, freezing. It ONLY happened after I updated to 24.0 and rolling it back did nothing to help.
In the meantime that forced my hand to learn a "different" program. It was tough because that program felt like the interface was put together by a half blind drunk man high on crack. Last weekend I really started to move with it and honestly am pretty excited for it. I miss a few things from Premier but the engine in this one is quite a bit more powerful and I have yet to experience any lag issues (with the exact same files I was using in Premier). I digress, I am no way trying to promote a different program, but the people who are having issues with PRemier seem to have pretty damn good rigs. The lesser rigs seems to work ok with it... wonder if that was the plan all along? Anyways...
The company I work for is on the verge of pulling out of the Adobe suite because all the issue we have with Premier. But, too many people like After effects and we would always have PS, so we are hitting a wall with what to do. Premier is definitely the worst program of the bunch for Adobe, that is uncontestable. If they would only stop making other programs no one wants and trying to add in features that no one wants, instead of focusing on improving the core / engine of this program, I would not be here and both of us would still be gleefully using Premier.
Thats all. I was holding out a little bit of hope, but 3-4 weeks later. Still the same issues and no resolution in site.
Good luck with your issue I hope it works out.

Is everyone new here? This has been the story of Premiere since forever. Every version we hope that things will not get worse and that things won't get broken but here we are. One thing I have learned, though, is do not ever think you can update Premiere and open an old project in a new version; that it is a recepie for disaster. If you open an old prject with a new version of Premiere you are asking for trouble. My question would be how many of you having these issues are having them after opening a project you started in a prior version of Premiere? Our shop is primiarlly Avid and a guy wanted my help to get one of his renders into Premiere so that he could run it through the transcription process. I tried to help him but it was so slow and laggy he gave up and ran it through the enCaption in master control. The machine that he edits on has an old Quadro card. I tried telling him that card was no longer supported so I had some excuse why Premiere couldn't play back an mp4 but it was embarrassing. Sometimes premiere just sucks and no one knows why. I assume Adobe doesn't either or they would fix it. You should see the hoops you have to jump through to cut a feature in Premiere!

First, generally accepted pro practice is to add updates of Premiere versions, and test them. You can run different-main-number apps simultaneously unlike with say Resolve. So ... add say 24.x, and test. While working in 23.x.
And if you decide to migrate, make a clean new project in the new version. In the MediaBrowser panel, navigate to the old version project, right-click and import the assets into the new project.
If it works ... great. If not, just keep working the old version project in the old version. No migration troubles, period.
Are you familiar with the Productions mode? If you're talking anything pro or longform, either movie/doc or episodic, you should NOT be using the old stand-alone project method. Productions came in a couple versions ago, and if you don't know about it and use it, your pretty outdated ...

Hello @Felix284463599exg,
Thanks for the message. It’s been a long time since you filed this bug, and we haven't heard from you for several months. Are you still having this issue? If so, the team will need more information from you to reproduce the bug. For example, the footage you were using. Can you provide the added information here? Instructions: How do I write a bug report?
Others on the thread might have a different issue than Felix, so I encourage you to file your specific bug rather than tag it onto this one. Unfortunately, the team cannot address a thread that is this unruly and contains multiple issues.
Felix, I'll move your post to the Discussions board while we await your information.
Thanks,
Kevin
