A ProRes422 equivalent for Windows...

Hello,

I was hoping someone might be able to help me with an issue I've had getting projects ready for a broadcast output. I've been given these specifications and as of yet have failed to find the equivalent export settings for a Windows machine.

.MOV

1920x1080 (50i) 16:9

ProRes422 (HQ)

25 fps

Colour sampled at 4:2:2 minimum

I know this codec issue has been discussed a lot and I've tried to decipher a workaround for myself but nothing I give them seems to be satisfactory. So apologies for anything that may have been repeated. If anyone can provide some specific export settings for me it would be much appreciated!

Hallo Mike,

for Apple ProRes and Windows your Software Company need a deal with Apple.

Some Company's have a deal with Apple, and so you can encode ProRes on a Windows Workstation.

ADOBE have no deal so you can not export ProRes from a Windows ADOPBE Product.

Perhapse you can Export a Good File with DNxHD or DNxHR Codec

and you can transcode this file in a software with ProRes support.

I think it would be great if ADOBE and Apple also signed a contract for ProRes on Windows.

That should be a more important point than many mini play tools

Thanks for your comment. the DNxHD Codec looks pretty good, Ill give that a try but the DNxHR doesn't seem to allow for interlaced encoding.

Averdahl​ thanks! That looks perfect ill give that a go as well although the CFHD codec doesn't seem to work very well In any player I have? Apart fro mthat it looks good though. Thanks for your help

You can use Potplayer or VLC to playback the footage: Global Potplayer and https://www.videolan.org/vlc

Try CineForm:

1. File > Export > Media

2. Set Format to QuickTime

3. Change Preset to GoPro CineForm YUV 10-bit

4. Export

You will get: .MOV, 1920x1080 (50i) 16:9, 25 fps, 4:2:2
