Adobe Genuine Service installation

The option to install Adobe Genuine Service came up and did a little digging. Lots of discussion on how to remove this because of constant pop ups and hogging a bit of resources. My question is what happens if you do not check the box to install? Is Adobe going to install something else in the background if you don't install AGS?

I've never seen any pop up for this and I've been using Adobe CC on both windows and macs intensively for at least 5 years...
